Community chooses nonprofits to receive $60,000 in Numerica grants

Numerica Credit Union donated $60,000 distributed between eight regional nonprofits, as chosen by the community. Numerica invited community members to nominate their favorite local nonprofits to receive a grant through the Gift Where You Live holiday giving campaign.

The top four nonprofits with the most votes were awarded $10,000. Because Numerica was so impressed with the community’s passion, in a surprise twist an additional $5,000 in grants was given to the second place winner in each region.

“It’s absolutely astounding, and I’m ecstatic that we won $10,000,” said Stephanie Devine, co-founder of Furry Farm Rescue. “This money is going toward animals getting the medical treatment they need. Thank you to everyone who voted for us in Numerica’s Gift Where You Live.”

This was Numerica’s first Gift Where You Live campaign, and recipients said they are eager to use the grant money on things like protecting veterans, serving children with autism, and empowering the LGBTQ+ community.

With more than 5,000 total nominations, the two most-nominated nonprofits in Spokane, North Idaho, Wenatchee Valley, and Tri-Cities received votes in a social media poll to choose a winner.

“We are honored that Gift Where You Live engaged the community in a big way to give back,” said Nicole Sherman, Numerica’s chief operating officer. “Hearing from our members and community which nonprofits were making the biggest impact to them personally was really special. It was inspiring to see people share their passion for local causes and work together to make such a meaningful difference.”

In 2021, Numerica gave back more than $2 million to the communities it serves. Here are each region’s Gift Where You Live winner followed by the second-place winner:
